My Twin Pregnancy - 27 Weeks

Today I am twenty seven weeks which means I have finally entered the third trimester and to mark it I am being treated to some serious dance moves from the babies. The type of movements where you see various body parts protruding out while you try to identify what they are. It's freaky and funny at the same time and I am loving it.

Officially in the 3rd Trimester! (Image from iPregnancy iPhone app)
I have been reading about this week's development in my various iPhone apps (iPregnancy, BabyCenter's My Pregancy and What to Expect Pregnancy Tracker) and apparently each baby now weighs around 900g. They are described as being the size of a cauliflower in one app, and a cucumber in another (random comparisons, I know), they are now sleeping at regular intervals, their lungs although immature, would be capable of functioning with medical help if born now and they can even cry. It also says not to be surprised if you see what looks like hiccups happening which I remember so well with Ben, it will be interesting to see if the twins get them and whether they will happen simultaneously. Reading all these updates have gotten me very excited as has the fact that we are now officially in the third trimester.

As for me, the past week and a bit since my last update hasn't exactly been easy, my poor "cankles" are staying inflated to epic proportions and nosebleeds are getting more regular but it's all pretty normal stuff for twin pregnancies according to my midwife and I am not to worry unless my hands or face swell up as well or I get a bad headache. I have another week and a half to wait until my next consultants appointment and scan which I am very much looking forward to. It's going to be lovely to see the twins again and reassuring to check on their growth and development.

My bump is getting bigger by the day and I can really feel twin two digging into my ribs at times, while twin one likes to use my bladder as a trampoline. Until my next update I leave you with a bump shot taken last Sunday.

Bump at 26 + 2 weeks
