Ben makes me laugh so much everyday, it doesn't what we are doing or where we are but he always does things that bring a smile to my face and make me chuckle. Today he thought it was hilarious to hide under my scarf in his buggy and stick his scary monster sock clad foot out at me while roaring loudly and laughing hysterically.

Guest Post: Breastfeeding on the go – have baby, will travel
Although breastfeeding can be hard to establish, once you have overcome any initial breastfeeding problems it’s one of the most straightforward aspects of parenting. The beauty of breastfeeding is that it provides a constant for your baby – no matter where you go or how strange your surroundings, your breasts are a familiar and secure source of comfort, with no need to fret about water quality, how you are going to make up bottles or how to carry all the supplies you will need.
There are a few things it is worth bearing in mind when thinking about breastfeeding on the move:
Before you leave
If you are going somewhere where you need vaccinations it is a good idea to talk to your GP about the fact that you are breastfeeding. Most guidance suggests that both live and inactivated vaccines are safe to have while breastfeeding, but do discuss this with a health professional.
On the move
Travelling with your baby in a sling can make navigating airports, train stations or unfamiliar places much simpler and calmer. You can even position your baby in a sling so they are able to breastfeed at the same time, meaning you are hands free to check in your luggage, deal with older children or find your way across a strange city.
Air travel
Being able to breastfeed your baby during a flight is so useful, as it is a great way to keep your baby calm and help them sleep. It is particularly helpful during take off and landing as it can help to alleviate the ear pain associated with changes in cabin pressure. Talk to your travel agent or the airline directly about the support and facilities they will be able to offer you and your family.
Milk supply
It is useful to bear in mind that you may experience some temporary drop in milk supply when travelling. This may be caused by dehydration due to long flights or illness and is nothing to worry about. Keep yourself topped up with plenty of fluids, breastfeed regularly and milk levels will soon settle back to normal levels.
When in Rome…
Be culturally sensitive when travelling abroad. Some countries have different attitudes towards breastfeeding in public and it is wise to find out beforehand what is locally acceptable. Check with the tourist board or your travel agent before you leave so you can be prepared to feed discreetly or in private if necessary.
Do I need to supplement?
For exclusively breastfed babies there is no need to supplement. Even in very hot climates there is no need to give extra drinks of water as breastmilk is designed to satisfy thirst as well as hunger. In hot weather you will probably notice your baby taking more of a ‘little and often’ approach as they will need to have frequent short drinks.
Happy holidays!

Grandma's Garden iPad / iPhone App Review
Grandma's Garden by Fairlady Media is a very sweet, highly engaging and educational app preschoolers are sure to love. It contains a series of mini games which help to develop skills in counting and numbers, memory and logic, letters, colours, shapes and vocabulary. It is a bright and well designed app with fun graphics and music which will appeal to young kids.
There are five mini games available to play in the app and these can be switched on or off in the settings. In the Count Vegetables game you help Grandma count her vegetables and put them in her bag by touching them one by one on screen. Match Vegetables is a matching game which helps to improve memory by turning cards to match pairs of vegetables. Colour the Vegetables is a game in which you use your finger to swipe and reveal the vegetable's correct colour and it's big smiling face which my toddler loves. The First Letters game asks you select the correct first letter of the vegetable from a choice of three letters on screen. In the Shapes mini game you have to select the watering can with the correct shape to help Grandma water her garden.
When you play the app the games are alternated which keeps it interesting and entertaining for little ones. There are lots of positive comments from Grandma as you progress through the games which is just like a Grandmother would be in real life. It is also great for teaching kids the names of all their vegetables and you can be sure that after playing with this app for a little while they will be able to recognise and name a wide variety including lettuce, cucumber, broccoli, tomato, potato, corn, chili pepper, mushroom, artichoke, pumpkin and peas to name but a few. Every so often during the game Grandma appears on screen and you are asked to give her a kiss which is so very sweet.
Both Ben and I love this app. The idea behind it is so nice with such a lovable warm Grandma character helping your child throughout as they learn, it is one of those apps that is sure to bring a smile to both your child's face as they play and yours as you watch them enjoy it so much. I should mention that this app uses US English rather than UK which personally I do not find a problem but it does mean that certain things like vegetables we refer to as aubergine in the UK are called eggplant which is the US English version.
Grandma's Garden is available to download from the AppStore for 69p and is compatible with both iPhone and iPad. I can highly recommend this app both from an educational and fun point of view.
* Disclaimer: I received a promo code to download this app but this has in no way biased my opinion.

Day 118 of The 366 Project
Thursday, 26 April 2012
Day 117 of The 366 Project
Ben keeps climbing on the sofa and getting himself stuck between it and the table exclaiming loudly "Help rescue Ben, Ben is stuck!". It has become a bit of a game and I have to "rescue" him at least twenty times a day if not more.

Today The Housework Can Wait
I always start my day with a plan to do certain things but it's a rare day when I actually get around to doing them all. Why? Well because I have a toddler who I spend most of my day entertaining and running about after and well that in my opinion is exactly how it should be. He is my priority.
I get a feeling the day will come around far too quickly that I will miss all this time we get to spend together, just me and him. I can catch up on the housework and everything else then.

Day 116 of The 366 Project
Today Ben and I made gingerbread cookies. He really is getting the hang of baking and absolutely loves getting stuck in cracking the eggs, measuring the ingredients, stirring the mixture and his favourite new skill rolling out the cookie doing while stealing bits of the offcuts when he thinks I'm not looking and giggling away to himself. It's a lot of fun.

Day 115 of The 366 Project
I was so glad to see it wasn't raining this morning I decided we had to make the most of it and hit the park as quickly as we could. Ben was very happy to be reunited with his favourite swing and would have happily stayed there all day. I lost track of the time he spent on the swing going "higher and higher" until it started raining again and we had to leave. It was only while walking home I realised I must have been pushing him for well over an hour. It was definitely time well spent out in the fresh air with my favourite little man.

Day 114 of The 366 Project
It's been one of those crazy days where Ben has been thrashing about the place like a whirlwind of destruction. Anything that could be climbed and shouldn't be was and quite a few valuable things including my MacBook had close calls. Needless to say he was extremely tired from his boisterous activities yet fighting sleep and refusing all efforts to get him to nap so I decided it was time for a bath to calm him down a little. This is what happened within minutes of taking him out.

Warner Bros. Welcomes Bloggers Event - An Intro to UltraViolet
![]() |
| Ben & me at the event |
Earlier this week we went along to the Warner Bros. Welcomes Bloggers event in central London where we got to hear about the latest technologies in digital services for viewing and storing movies and television programmes which include UltraViolet and Flixster, Blinkbox, Rovi and Knowhow Movies along with a preview of the LEGO Batman 2: DC Superheroes game. I can honestly say that I came away a lot more knowledgeable and I am really rather excited about the new and far more convenient options available for storing and watching movies. As there is a lot of information to share following this event I shall be covering it in a series of posts starting with telling you about UltraViolet and Flixster.
UltraViolet is a cloud-based library of your digital possessions. It is a new way to collect, access and watch your movies and favourite television shows in the cloud across many different devices from computes, smartphones and tablets. Various retailers and companies have begun to adopt UltraViolet which include Warner Bros. through Flixster, Paramount, Universal, Sony and Walmart Entertainment with Asda in the UK soon to come on board.
To fully understand the whole UltraViolet and Flixster experience I gave it a go myself yesterday. At the event we received two UltraViolet enabled Blu-Ray Triple Play packs which were Happy Feet Two and Dolphin Tale. If a Blu-Ray is UltraViolet enabled it has a label on it with the UV logo and code inside so make sure you look out for the logo next time you are buying one. In order to redeem your digital copy you have to go online to http://www.flixster.com/ultraviolet/ click on Redeem and then select your movie. If it is your first time using the service you will be prompted to set up a Flixster and UltraViolet account, you then enter in the code and your movie will be stored in your online Locker in the cloud where you have the option of downloading it on to a device such as your iPad or smart phone or streaming it directly to your device or television using Apple TV. For me this is a fantastic option to have available especially for long trips where I need to keep my toddler entertained as I can load up my iPad with films for him to watch easily and quickly. You can set up multiple devices and add up to six members to your account. I was also pleased to see that you can set up parental controls for individual members in your account which is great if you want your kids to have their own account.
I must say I am very interested to see how UltraViolet does in the UK and whether people will begin using it to store their movies in the cloud. Personally I know I will. I like the ease at which it allows me to access movies on all my devices without having to do anything other than load an app, select my movie and click 'watch' or download.
*Disclaimer: I received a goody bag when I attended the Warner Bros. Welcomes Bloggers Event but this has in no way biased my opinion.

Day 109 of The 366 Project
Here is Ben in full story telling mode this morning. His stories are always pretty imaginative with today's featuring a scary dragon that went "rawrrr", two dinosaurs that needed rescuing, a rocket, lava bubbling out of a big volcano and a whirlpool which was "way down below the castle". It was quite a story.

Toy Story Read-Along iPad App Review
Ben watched Toy Story for the first time last week and he absolutely loved it so I thought I'd check out the App Store and see if there were any apps available. The good news is there is and it is free. The Toy Story Read-Along iPad app compliments the movie perfectly with it's read-along story based on the movie, interactive features, games, music and painting. Ben was thrilled when I showed it to him.
There are three reading options which include Read To Me, Auto-turn Pages and Young Reader Mode. If you select Read To Me the story is narrated either professionally or by your own voice if you have used the Record option to record yourself. As each word is read it is highlighted which is great for helping children to learn to read. If Auto-turn Pages is switched on the pages turn automatically, if not you have to swipe to progress to the next page. Finally Young Reader mode integrates the other options in the app such as the games like the Parachute Jump, Music and Painting mode, these appear as a circle on some of the pages as you read the story and can be touched to leave the story and play them.
The Painting activity allows you to select between three pictures to finger paint. You also have the option to remove the lines and free draw. This is a very user friendly painting game, it is easy to select the colours you want to use or select a reveal option which auto-colours the page as you draw which is great for little ones. It also allows you to zoom into four different areas of the page to make colouring in easier and once finished you can email your masterpiece. Ben loves the painting game and I can highly rate it for the design.
The Music option allows you to select between two of the well loved songs from Toy Story to play which are You've Got a Friend in Me and Strange Things. The lyrics also appear and each word is highlight karaoke style so you can sing along. I have to admit we have had a lot of fun singing along to them.
The Games option allows you to select between two games the Parachute Drop and Toy Barn Maze, both of which can be played in Easy, Normal or Hard modes. In the Parachute Drop you have to tilt the iPad left and right to avoid the obstacles and help the soldier get safely to the bottom. In Toy Barn Maze you have to help Buzz and the gang find their way out of Al's Toy Barn by tapping and dragging Buzz around the maze and picking up the other toys along the way until you reach the exit. Both these games really are a lot of fun and kids are sure to love them.
Toy Story Read-Along really does have a lot to offer all in one app and is sure to keep fans both young and old entertained for quite some time. It is available to download for free from the App Store and is compatible with the iPad.

The Sainsbury's Jubilee Family Festival
Have you heard about the Sainsbury's ballot for free family tickets to the Jubilee Family Festival which takes place in Hyde Park on the 2nd - 3rd of June? To be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is spend £60 or more in Sainsbury's between now and the 17th of April and then go online to enter the ballot here before the 21st of April. With five hundred family tickets a day up for grabs you really do have a fantastic chance of winning one so don't delay and get entering while you still have time!
The Jubilee Family Festival promises to be a once in a lifetime experience with spectacular entertainment, activities and music for all the family to enjoy. I was really excited to hear about the 'Magic of Disney Concert', a seventy minute show at the finale of each day starring Princesses and Pirates which is extremely rare outside of the Disney parks locations and a first for the UK so definitely one not to be missed. Other children's favourites appearing in the Kids Zone include Thomas & Friends, Fireman Sam, Mike the Knight, Angelina Ballerina and Bob the Builder which I know my toddler is going to love. There is a host of things for us adults to enjoy as well which are divided into different stage areas and the Parade Ground. The Main Stage which is hosted by Myleene Klass will have appearances from BBC One's Strictly Come Dancing, Ramin and Laura Wright amongst others while the amazing New Zealand Maori Kapa Haka Performers and the London African Gospel Choir will be part of the line up on the Commonwealth Stage and the marching bands and exhilarating military displays will be found in the Parade Ground. To make sure that you won't miss a thing there will be giant screens so you can watch all the Jubilee celebrations live.
I love going to events like this at Hyde Park, it is a great location and perfect for big family events and celebrations. We went to watch the Royal Wedding there last year and the atmosphere was amazing and made it something truly memorable which I am sure the Sainsbury's Jubilee Family Festival will be too.
Tickets for the Festival can be bought from Ticketmaster or See Tickets with a family ticket costing £52 and admits two adults plus two children or one adult plus three children but don't forget there is still time to enter the Sainsbury's ballot to win one for free.
*Disclaimer: I am a Mumbassador for the Sainsbury's Jubilee Family Festival and helping to promote the event in exchange for a family ticket.
