#IWASTHERE Competition to mark the London 2012 Olympics

#IWASTHERE Competition: East vs West London

I feel very lucky to be living in London while the Olympics are on. To be honest, it wasn't until we attended the torch relay event in Ealing on Tuesday the 24th of July, that it hit home to me what a big thing it is to be living here during it. The event itself was a once in a lifetime experience, I loved how the community came together to celebrate the torch coming to our neighbourhood and I had a lump in my throat watching the cauldron being lit.

My son was transfixed by the flame and was pointing at it saying "look look, the flame!", he is, in fact, still talking about it so I hope it is a memory that will stay with him. Whilst we do not actually have tickets for any of the events I still feel we are part of the Olympics due to the buzz about London and the sheer amount of stuff that is going on around the London games.

One of the ways to get involved in what is going on is to take part in the #IWASTHERE competition which is being run by Westfield London and Westfield Stratford City. It is a way to show your support for London during the games and create a little healthy competition between East and West. You simply sign up to Team East or Team West and use the #IWASTHERE hashtag (e.g #IWASTHERE #WEST) wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, to show your allegiance and share your story.

There is an added incentive to get involved, as each time you tweet or upload a photo to Instagram using the hashtag or join in on the Westfield London or Westfield Stratford City Facebook pages you will not only earn a point for your team but you will be in with a chance of winning a prize. Prizes include Westfield gift cards for the 'Star Players', the team members who post the best content each week and also a Grand Prize Winner will be selected to win a £500 Westfield Shopping Spree, not to mention lots of lovely London 2012 and Team GB goodies which will be given away.

I’ve signed up for Team West and during the Olympics I will be sharing my story about how I am a part of the games happening in London by showing what is happening in my part of West London. Make sure you register and share your #IWASTHERE story by using the hashtag and remember the more points you score the more chance of winning.

*Disclaimer: I’ve partnered with Westfield to provide this information.
