When you first load the app you have to select between Learning Games and Sing Along. If you select Learning Games you then have to choose between Puzzles and Shapes. Puzzles presents you with various railway scene 'jigsaw-like' games which you have to put back together at the end of which you earn stickers. Shapes requires you to place shapes inside each of the letters until you spell the word 'Train'. This teaches your little one both the names of each shape and how to spell the word train which I think is great. You also earn stickers at the end of this game which you can then place on a scene. If you select the other option Sing Along, you first build the train by putting the pieces of the train back together and then you can sing along to the music and follow the train as it goes along the track through various well animated railway scenes. Only problem is the song is quite catchy and you may find yourself humming it for the rest of the day long after your toddler has finished playing it.
This game is very interactive which is why I think Ben enjoys it so much and the Learning Games are both fun and educational. Ben really likes putting the puzzles back together and I find it very cute to watch him playing the Sing Along version as he clearly enjoys the song and bops away to the music.
The app is available to download from the App Store and there is both a free lite version and a full. Originally I installed the lite but Ben liked it so much I purchased the full version for £1.19 which got rid of ads and unlocked more features. I should also mention there is an iPhone version available for download.
If you have a preschooler who loves trains I would definitely recommend this app. They will enjoy playing it and you can be happy that they are also getting some educational value from it too!
