It's fruit and vegetable box day!

Yay today is fruit and vegetable box day! Yes sad I know but I do get rather excited about what will be inside the cardboard box which magically appears on my doorstep early on a Tuesday morning whilst we are still tucked up in bed.

What I like about getting a box like this is that it encourages you to try fruits and vegetables that you normally never would. I had fallen into the trap of buying the same carrots, celery, mushrooms, tomatoes, bananas and grapes every week and seldom deviating which was getting boring both to eat and to cook with. This is my third box now and I can honestly say the organic fruit and vegetables taste really good too, far nicer than supermarket stuff and I really don't think I am imagining it.

So what's in this weeks box I hear you ask? Well, we have charlotte potatoes, courgettes, broad beans, Italian cherry tomatoes, lettuce, grapefruit, pears and nectarines and this is just the small fruit and vegetable box. Sounds good doesn't it? I had substituted a few items by marking them as dislike or skip when ordering online and I am very happy with the replacements - it also means you have a surprise to look forward to which I like :). We got a complimentary litre of milk today, last week we got eggs and the week before a bottle of wine. You also get a booklet with recipe ideas and the Able & Cole website has a large selection of recipe ideas for each vegetable which is great as I have gotten out of the cycle of making the same set of meals each week.

If you'd like to try a box for yourself you can order one from Able & Cole. They also have lots of tasty looking jams, chutneys, bread, eggs, meat, fish and more. In my opinion it's definitely worth a try, you won't be disappointed!
